A Week to Grow

Iowa JPEC established the annual, week-long Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute (OEI) in a partnership among state of Iowa universities and colleges, as well as Iowa Lakes Corridor Development in 2006. Today, this summer program continues to provide students with a week-long immersion into entrepreneurship and business strategy, and develop an outstanding network of peers and business professionals.

Students from the University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa, Iowa State University, Iowa Lakes Community College, and Buena Vista University, participate in an advanced study of entrepreneurship that includes a team-based entrepreneurial venture computer simulation, seminars with successful entrepreneurs, business and community leaders, networking, and fun on the shores of Iowa’s Great Lakes in Okoboji, Iowa. OEI has proven to be a life-changing experience for participants - just check out this video and see for yourself!

Applications for OEI are typically due at the end of March each year - while the program is held each year in August. This program is competitive and has limited spots available for University of Iowa students to attend. A deadline to apply will be noted in early 2018, so be sure to check back for more information.
