Statewide Network of Pappajohn Centers receives $200,000 Kaufman Grant

The statewide network of five John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Centers in Iowa have received a $200,000 grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation to establish a mentoring program for entrepreneurs.

Viewpoint Molecular Targeting, an Iowa JPEC Faculty Innovators alumnus, is starting 2021 with momentum. Over the last 6 months, the company accrued $18 million in funding, secured its own supply chain of radioisotopes, unveiled positive preclinical data; and secured its first investigational new drug application by the US FDA in the lead up to their first human trials at the Mayo Clinic and the University of Iowa.

University of Iowa, Iowa State University share $100,000 Kauffman Grant

The University of Iowa and Iowa State University will split a $100,000 grant awarded to their respective entrepreneurial centers by The Ewing Marion Foundation in an effort to bolster each school’s entrepreneurial training and outreach capabilities.

Mike Kuennen, a teacher at New Hampton High School, helped his students come to a solution by drawing on the lessons he learned through STEM Innovator created by the University of Iowa's Jacobson Institute. The group of high school students decided to start their own business, a portable drive-in movie theater, to give people something to do on summer evenings.
