Pilirani is an agricultural entrepreneur and devoted researcher on food security and climate change. Concerned by the gender gap in agriculture, Pilirani founded the Bunda Female Students Organization (BUFESO), which works with contract farmers to cultivate various crops. Pilirani works as a coordinator for BUFESO where she works towards the empowerment of young women to get involved academically in the fields of science and agriculture. Besides her venture, she also currently serves as a Fellow for the African Women in Agriculture Research and Development (AWARD) as well as an Ambassador for Save the Children Malawi.
