Mandela Day

The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, started in 2014, is the flagship program of former President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) that empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking. The Fellows have established records of accomplishment in promoting innovation and positive change in their organizations, institutions, communities, and countries.

Please join us for a day of community service with the Mandela Washington Fellows to celebrate the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela on what would be his 100th birthday. This will take place on July 18, from 9:30-11:30am in the Red Barn at the Streets Department (3800 Napoleon Ln, Iowa City), which is across the street from Terry Trueblood. After we'll be serving ice cream in the pavilion by the boat dock at Terry Trueblood. Please RSVP below if you are able to attend!
