Kurt Heiar is an Iowa JPEC associate professor, and Lead Instructor for the University of Iowa's statewide Venture School Program. Heiar has been the President & CEO of four early stage companies to date, including Immortagen, Inc., a women's cancer diagnostics company named UI Startup of the Year for 2016. He is an established executive and is passionate about teaching, mentoring students, and entrepreneurship. Heiar recently completed his third summer in Greece where he worked with 17 Greek companies and co-developed the Greece Venture Capital Fair. Prior, Heiar served as Vice President of Marketing, North America Biosciences, and as Director of Global Business Development, Oncology, for Baxter Healthcare Corporation. Heiar served as the four-year Chair of the Iowa Business Council’s Entrepreneurial Formation effort and as the former Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Iowa State University Research Foundation.
