Sarah Boeving

Sarah Boeving
Deputy Project Director for Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders

Sarah Boeving is the Deputy Project Director for the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. Prior to joining IREX, Sarah served as the Director of International Programs at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University where she provided strategic leadership for a significant expansion of the office’s global education programming, including developing and implementing 21 new academic and business internship programs and partnerships.  Previously, Sarah worked for five years at the Institute of International Education in the Europe and Africa/Near East divisions, where she oversaw Foreign Fulbright student and professional development programs.  Sarah began her career at Columbia University supporting research projects funded by UNICEF and the Carnegie Foundation, and later served as a Legislative Aid in the U.S. House of Representatives. Sarah received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas and a master’s degree from Columbia University with a focus on international higher education development. 

Dave Okech

Dave Okech
Former Mandela Washington Fellow, CEO of Rio Fish, Managing Director of SareMillers LTD

Dave Okech, a former Mandela Washington Fellow, is an entrepreneur who has consistently devoted himself to developing more sustainable agribusiness and food system methodology. Currently, he is heavily involved serving as the CEO of Rio Fish and as the Managing Director of Sare Millers LTD. Rio Fish, based in Kisumu, Kenya, focuses on developing efficient fish production. In this role he developed the “AquaRech” app, which helps aggregate a farmer’s information, and in turn has aided small-scale farmers in lowering fish production costs, in turn helping increase their income. As Managing Director for Sare Millers, he engages in agricultural education work with young girls to support their work in developing more profitable farming business models. He has a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from the Digital Advisory and Learning Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. In 2018 he was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year by Change Maker: Y Generation Against Poverty.

Dr Sunday Adebili

Dr. Adebisi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration with specializations and research interests in Sustainable Entrepreneurship & Innovation, International Business & Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management and Comparative Strategy. He is also the Director, Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre (ESDC), University of Lagos, Nigeria. He has won numerous awards including: African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Centre of Excellence in 2018 for his his proposal; African Entrepreneurship Development for Unemployment and Poverty Solutions (AEDUPS) (which allowed the University of Lagos to become the Leader and Hub in Africa for research in Sustainable Entrepreneurship, Best Full Paper in Performance Management at the 2014 World Conference of the British Academy of Management (BAM) in Belfast, and he also won another international Award of the EFMD 2016 Best African Case. He is also the Director of this ARUA Research Centre of Excellence.

Dr. Daniel Quaye

Breakout Session Panelist

Dr. Quaye is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School. He lectures in Entrepreneurship, Business Plans & Innovation Management. He has experience in both industry and academia, particularly in enterprise development strategies, business innovation approaches and business planning. He consulted has consulted for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Geneva, Barclays Bank (South Africa), CARE International and Technoserve. Dr. Quaye was head of the Enterprise Development Services of the University of Ghana Business School. He has led trade delegation sponsored by the Australian government. He is the founder and CEO of Business Innovation and Solutions, developers of the “Write Your Own Business Plan” software. Also, he is the founder of Entrepreneurs’ Exchange. Dr. Quaye holds a PhD from Deakin University in Australia, a Master’s degree from the University of Queensland (Australia), and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Canberra (Australia).

Dr. Adom is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Marketing & Entrepreneurship at the University of Ghana Business School. He has a PhD in Management (Entrepreneurship focus) from the University of Sheffield Management School, Sheffield, UK, an MBA (Finance) from University of Leicester, BSc Planning from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Professional Diploma in Marketing from Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK. Currently, he is the Coordinator for MA Marketing Strategy and MSc. International Business. His research interests draw on experiences from Africa, specifically Ghana, to inform theoretical developments in entrepreneurship dynamics, motives of informal workers and the relationship between formal and the informal economy, social entrepreneurship, gender and cultural issues in entrepreneurship and socioeconomic development. He hopes to challenge some of the taken-for-granted theoretical perspectives regarding informal work and the motives of informal entrepreneurship in Africa and the developing world as a whole.

Abdoul Aziz Junior

Abdoul Aziz SY Junior holds a masters in management and is currently a P.H.D candidate at the University of London, and obtained his bachelors in business administration from London Metropolitan University.  Previously, he worked for both Doctors without Borders and the European Economic and Financial Center before returning to Dakar. There he took up the CEO Project Manager Positon at Supdeco. He worked his way up and became head of International and Corporate Relations and finally became Deputy CEO of the business school in 2017. Abdoul Aziz is involved in AMCHAM Senegal.

Professor Ngumi is a Fulbright Scholar who holds an MBA, Master’s degree and a PHD in Plant Physiology. Currently she is the Vice Chancellor of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in Kenya. She aims to build capacity through teaching and research in her area of Plant Physiology, Plant culture and Conservation Botany as a contribution towards conservation of our rich ecosystems and environment. Her other accomplishments include: being the Chairperson of biological Sciences, starting and establishing the Department of Biological Sciences and also winning the Monbusha scholarship for Msc studies in Hiroshime University (Japan). She is also Senior Education Fellow at ANAFE in charge of East and Central Africa.
