Students
Entrepreneur-in-Residence
Several times throughout the semester, aspiring student entrepreneurs have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with successful entrepreneurs. Participating students receive intensive mentoring as they discuss their business or concept, the challenges they face, and plans for starting or growing their business. JPEC supporter, Tom Bedell, has played an instrumental role in the successful launch of this initiative, offering his time and expertise to more than a dozen young entrepreneurs this semester. Samantha Terrell had the opportunity to meet with Tom on two different occasions to discuss her business concept for Corridor Fitness and Daycare Center, "The opportunity that the entrepreneur-in-residence program offers is priceless. I really appreciate the time, wisdom, and experience these individuals have offered me and my business concept."
Other entrepreneurial participants have included John Buchanan, JPEC advisory board member and founder of Riepe, Buchanan, and Piper, a Marsh & McLennan Company and Todd Smith, founder, CEO and president of Clear!Blue. Held on a regular basis throughout the year, JPEC has several more Entrepreneur-in-Residence programs scheduled. If you are interested in getting involved in this exciting new initiative, please contact JPEC at iowajpec@uiowa.edu.
