Internships
Entrepreneurship students may complete an internship as part of their entrepreneurship plan of study. Students must receive prior approval from the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center to receive academic credit for the internship. Please contact David Hensley, JPEC Executive Director, with questions.
Experience Iowa Internship Program
The Experience Iowa Internship Program was established to bring University of Iowa students and Iowa businesses together by providing a special opportunity for students to work as paid interns. The program provides a subsidy which covers one-half of the funding for the intern's salary, with the balance provided by the employer. To be eligible, students must be undergraduates of at least sophomore status who are enrolled full-time at the UI. Employers must have 500 employees or fewer, demonstrate a strong commitment to the state of Iowa, and be interested in providing a learning opportunity for a talented UI student.
To find out more about this exciting opportunity, contact Amy A'Hearn at the UI Career Center at 319-335-1023.
Requirements for the internship are provided below:
- Professional experience which relates to entrepreneurship and the student's major field or area of career interest
- At least 80% professional work
- Occupies at least one academic term (fall, spring or summer)
- At least 10 weeks during spring or fall term, or 8 weeks in summer
- Full or part-time intern must work a minimum of 10 hours per week
