The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center at The University of Iowa believes in providing undergraduate and graduate students with real-world learning experiences through the entrepreneurship program. Students gain valuable insight through a variety of field study and internship initiatives.

Business Consulting for Iowa Companies

During the fall and spring semesters, interdisciplinary student teams are formed to complete advanced business projects for aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage companies in the region. These projects typically include market assessments of new technology products or services, strategic planning, financial forecasting, and business planning. This initiative provides a valuable educational opportunity to UI entrepreneurship students while offering area companies high-quality business consulting services. To participate in this program, students must enroll in 6T:192 Entrepreneurship: Business Consulting (see course description).

Student Business Incubator

The Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Laboratory (BELL) is an applied learning environment for advanced entrepreneurship students pursuing the creation of a new business. Individual students and teams will receive dedicated office space in a newly remodeled 10,000 square-foot facility, enabling them to concentrate on developing their business concepts. Because the facility is an extension of the entrepreneurship programs offered by JPEC, students will also receive intensive mentoring and a variety of other assistance from JPEC and SBDC faculty and staff. Internship Programs

Entrepreneurship students may complete an internship as part of their Certificate in Entrepreneurial Management plan of study. Students must receive prior approval from the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center to receive academic credit for the internship. Please contact JPEC Executive Director David Hensley with questions.
