The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) was one of the first entrepreneurship programs in the country to integrate entrepreneurship education with business, engineering, health sciences, and liberal arts and sciences. All University of Iowa undergraduate students may earn a Certificate in Entrepreneurship in addition to their undergraduate degrees. Performing arts students may earn a B.A. in Performing Arts Entrepreneurship.
At the graduate level, MBA students may pursue a Concentration in Entrepreneurship as part of their program of study; graduate students outside of business may earn a Certificate in Entrepreneurship. Advanced entrepreneurship courses are available to all graduate and proessional students on campus and at several locations across the state of Iowa.
Aspiring student entrepreneurs have the opportunity to launch a new venture in the Bedell Entrepreneurship Learning Laboratory. All UI students have the opportunity to cultivate their entrepreneurship skills through participation in a wide variety of programs and activities.
"JPEC made a complete difference for me. I knew I would want to start looking for jobs with my political science degree, but I didn't have the business background I needed. I didn't know the difference between a balance sheet and a cash flow statement. Then, I entered the program, and before I even graduated, I was running my own company."
