JPEC was featured in the cover story of March's Fortune Small Business magazine. The article, Can Entrepreneurship Be Taught?, focuses on national entrepreneurs and top entrepreneurial schools. UI entrepreneurial students Diana Reed and Megan Wettach shared the spotlight as proof that entrepreneurship can be taught.
Technology Start-up Team Wins $5,000
  Technology Start-up Team Wins $5,000

OMR Sensors was one of three UI teams to compete in the statewide Pappajohn New Venture Business Plan Competition. The team’s winning idea is to develop prototype interactive display applications, similar to the touch screens used in tablet PCs.

The competition was held in conjunction with the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Iowa Conference, an annual conference for college students interested in entrepreneurship. Approximately 90 students represented JPEC at the event.

UI Golden Girl: Inspiration to All
  Diana Reed

Diana Reed was featured in the Iowa City Press- Citizen as one of the area's top 42 residents whose dedication has inspired others. Reed started Diana's Golden Twirlers, a baton twirling school for young girls, her freshman year.

Reed also was named the winner of the Sweet Charity Dance on Broadway Contest earning the honor of performing with Christina Applegate in Sweet Charity on Broadway.

  Entrepreneurship Camps Spark Biz Spirit in Youth

Registration is under way for JPEC's Youth Entrepreneur Camp (grades 4-6) and Jacobson Entrepreneurship Academy (grades 7-9).

The Youth Entrepreneur Camp, sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company, will be held in Iowa City July 10-14. The Jacobson Entrepreneurship Academy, sponsored by the Richard O. Jacobson Foundation, will be held in Iowa City July 17-21 and in Des Moines July 24-28.
