The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) at The University of Iowa is committed to increasing the entrepreneurial spirit across the state of Iowa. To that end, JPEC has partnered with the Iowa Community College system and the University of Northern Iowa to deliver statewide the nationally acclaimed FastTrac® entrepreneurial training programs of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation of Kansas City. This initiative is designed to provide a wide range of learning experiences for individuals who wish to create a venture, learn the entrepreneurial process, or need to update their knowledge and skills to grow their businesses. Since the inception of the program in fall 1997, over 3,000 Iowans have completed the programs.
FastTrac® New Venture™ is a program designed for aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage ventures. The seven-session program focuses on the development of a plan to successfully launch a new sustainable venture. The course covers entrepreneur traits, market research and analysis, financial forecasting, sources of financing, and business planning.
FastTrac® Planning™ is designed for small business owners, with the focus on helping them learn and implement key business strategies to transform and improve the business. This 11-session program provides participants with information on strategic planning, legal issues, market research and analysis, financial documents and cash flow management. It also covers financing methods and growth strategies for small business owners.
