About JPEC
The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) is a unique partnership within The University of Iowa among the Henry B. Tippie College of Business, College of Engineering, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and University of Iowa Health Sciences. JPEC was founded in 1996 through a generous gift from John and Mary Pappajohn of Des Moines, Iowa.
JPEC offers a comprehensive entrepreneurial education program to all Iowans. All undergraduate students at The University of Iowa may earn a Certificate in Entrepreneurship in addition to their undergraduate degree. Advanced courses are offered to all graduate students across campus and at several locations across the state of Iowa. JPEC has partnered with the Iowa Community College System to deliver entrepreneurial training to all Iowans interested in pursuing business ownership. The Center also offers specialized curriculum, training and summer camps for Iowa youth and high school teachers.
JPEC plays an important role in the development of Iowa-based technology and high-growth start-up companies. Whether providing one-on-one consulting services or directing UI students on advanced field study projects, JPEC seeks to support the next generation of successful Iowa entrepreneurs.
"Much of my business success can be attributed to the entrepreneurship classes taken through JPEC. What is unique for me is that I can apply the principles I learn in class directly to my business. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who has a new or growing business or anyone who anticipates starting a business in the future."
